Our Remarkable Why
rəˈfreSH/: The ability to reset, stimulate new strength, energy, or perspective, so that something will work again or work in a different way...and we have the audacity to believe that everybody deserves a few good resets. And, here's our why-
Sitting in front of a Dairy Queen in a small country town, my first REFRESH experience happened before I was even aware that the concept existed. For weeks, actually months, I struggled with a change of heart regarding a major life choice. In the safety of the company of my first friend, I confessed an extreme trepidation to going forward with a life decision. At the same time, I felt really-really anxious, that knot in the stomach type of anxiety, about choosing to go a different way. With little lag time in responding, my first friend's input triggered my REFRESH.
"One life," my first friend said. "You only have one life...do what you want to with it." In that moment, it was as if permission was granted for me to breathe, to think clearly, and then to do life a different way.
And then there was her and her too, both had lost their babies at just 20+ days old. Both held those tiny baby boys in their arms as they transitioned from earth into eternity. Their tears and strength have watered the vision and mission of this organization. Both transparently lent their stories and hearts to serve as founding members of the organization.
Representing nothing short of a miracle, another, post s 2-3 week coma in her mid forties, came abroad as well. With an experience of her own, she undeniably understood the necessity of holding space for women to REFRESH.
Have you ever needed that moment? A safe space to breathe, to think, and then to figure out what to do. We believe that each woman needs and deserves a moment to REFRESH. Every now and again, I close my eyes, still inhale my first friend's words, and choose to do life a different way.
A varied hue of women, African-American, Hispanic, Vietnamese, and others reminded us that no one was exempt. Huddled over a stack of papers, doodles, and big ideas month after month, committed women flushed out the early stages of this organization. And the rest, as they say, is history ...yet not really history but our story-our beautifully unfolding story. Through precise experiences, this organization gifts forward REFRESH opportunities to as many women as possible. REFRESH, this passionate 501(c)(3) organization, exists to empower women to reset the rhythm of their own lives. - The Founders
